Herman Brood
Herman Brood was a variety artist in everything. In his music, his poems, but especially in his paintings and graphics. His work shows an enormous passion, which he brilliantly converted into shape and color thanks to his perfect mastery of the technique. The great interest in his work was a great stimulus for Herman Brood. As with the performances with his band, the interaction with the audience was an encouragement and a source of inspiration at the same time. He liked to paint 'en plein public'.
The king of Dutch rock 'n roll worked diligently, throwing himself with brushes, paint and aerosols into a hallucinatory adventure from which he emerged unchanged as the winner. He translated the countless impressions and experiences that he has collected in his turbulent life into art with a large K. Art for which interest is only increasing because authenticity can be recognized flawlessly. One of the few not forbidden activities of Herman Brood was painting that he did diligently in recent years. The king of Dutch rock 'n roll, regularly locked himself up for days-long sessions in his studio in Amsterdam. Here he came to himself amid large canvases, pots of paint, aerosols and rollers.
Soon he was not satisfied with the result achieved and the harvest of months was therefore limited. Here and there Herman turned a man into a glass plane, complete with propeller and rivets. Herman Brood attended the art academy only briefly: “You know probation. I had a two for art history, I have known all my life that I would become a painter.
