Cole Morgan
Cole Morgan (1950) may have been born in the USA, but his art is rooted in the European tradition. Rembrand’s play of light and dark; Da Vinci’s puzzling annotations and secretive constructions; Paul Klee’s colorful compositions, and the arrival of the collage technique at the beginning of the 20th century. Morgan committed the high points of the history of art to heart. As a student he strived to draw like Durer. He studied the “masters” and he makes use of their particular characteristics as though he were an alchemist, creating new and original applications totally his own.
Cole Morgan received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque in 1971 before moving to Europe.
He eventually planned to live in The Netherlands but ended up living in Antwerp, Belgium.
