Fon Klement
Fon Klement was self-taught as an artist. After a short period in which he gained prestige as a figurative painter and woodcarver, the first multi-color graphic magazines were created in 1960 in his so-called 'the high-pressure board cut' technique. Recognizable form elements gradually gave way to more abstract motifs in a sober color range. For Fon Klement, the later (re) discovery of the watercolor technique came exactly in time. He was artistically at a crossroads. The need to change course became increasingly strong. Fon Klement went on a quest and traveled through Provence for over ten weeks. In his improvised studio in Lorgues in southern France, they were abundant: flowers. Poppies, irises, roses, larkspur and hibiscus enticed the artist to continue on the path he had previously taken: painting and watercolors of flower still lifes. Since 1961, Fon Klement was a member of Xylon, the international association of woodcarvers. graph shows all over Europe. The exhibition "Prints today in the USA" with an overview of graphics by Dutch artists, including Fon Klement, has traveled through the United States for years. During the graphics biennale "Graphics Now" in Laren (autumn 1990), and later at the first international graphics biennale in Maastricht (summer 1993), Fon Klement is awarded the Public Prize.
